.............................................................
This shouldn't have happened to poor Omotara. I wonder what will become of this poor girl who is just coming up. Mrs Oluchi said, talking to the members of her staff. I can't believe that Mr and Mrs Alonge are gone. If they had known, they wouldn't have boarded that plane. A member of the staff said. How do we go about telling Omotara? Mrs Oluchi asked. That's the problem on ground now God will teach us what to do. I really feel for her.
Omotara's father called his lawyer a day before his sudden death together with his wife. I want everything I and my my wife possess to be documented in my daughter's name. But she must not be given access to know about this until later in future, and if eventually I die before she clocks 18, let her have access at age 18. I would av love you to do it after I return but something keeps telling me to stop procrastinating and do the needful. OK sir, his lawyer said, bringing out a document out for him to sign of which he did.
Mr Alonge and his wife sat beside each other inside the plane as they express their feelings. Mother of my child, I can't believe it's 18 years already since you said I do to me and until now you have not change a bit. I love you more and more every passing day. I am assuring you that until my last breath I will hold you tight and always love you. You mean everything to me darling wife. She looked at her husband with joy all over her eyes. Thank you. I am happy I choose you in the first place, I would av been in regret now, but thank God I made the decision of spending my entire life time with you. And you know what? I will gladly die in your arms, even if it means dying for you, I will do that without any regrets. They both hold each other tight and suddenly, they heard a voice saying; ''Tighten your seat belt, the weather is becoming bad, we have run out of control............" The two love birds held each other tight as everything became out of control, and everybody who boarded started screaming, and shouting for help from God. Mr Alonge held his wife tight and said, Motilayo I LOVE YOU and suddenly the plane exploded and nothing was heard, it was all over. That was the end of Omotara's patents.
Mrs Oluchi called Omotara to her office early the next day. Good morning ma, you sent for me. Omotara asked. Have your seat dear. I have a message for you from your parents, she said. OK ma Omotara yelled, feeling happy. They will be gone for a very long time, so you will be going home with me whenever you are on break and after your final exams. She sighed. But ma, where have they gone? I want to speak with them, they can't just leave me like that, Omotara asked all sorts of questions until the middle age woman got tired and try to answer and said your parents are fine. Its been months now since Omotara heard from her parents, unknown to her that they are gone. Although, she do experience a kind of bad feeling but she do summon courage and assure herself that nothing is wrong with them. Adaobi came out with a stunned face, and she asked; who are you, and who brought you here? My name is Omotara and your.......... I brought her here and you will both stay in the same room, Mrs Oluchi cuts in. Ada ran to her room in anger. I will be back. Mrs Oluchi told Tara, as she rush following her daughter. What was the attitude back there for? Mum I told you I don't like sharing my things with people, now you are telling me to share my room with that girl, it can't work, NO WAY. She yelled at her mum. Listen to me spoilt child, she will stay with you and there is nothing you can do about that. I hope you get me? Moving closer to her. Ada knew that fire is about to come to her mountain as her mother comes closer to her, so she nodded and said, yes ma. Better her mother replied and left the room to go help Tara with her things.
It's been months since Tara started staying with the Oluchi's and Adaobi has been making life unbearable for her, but she has been persevering and hoping that its just for a while and as soon as her parents are back, everything will come back to normal, she will go back to her mansion. Mrs Oluchi sat comfortably in the living room watching news and there was a knock on the door. Adaobi! Tara! Tara! Somebody is at the door. Tara left the dishes she is washing and hurried to the door to see who's there and she saw a middle aged woman like Mrs Oluchi. Good afternoon ma, she greeted. Afternoon my dear, is my friend in? Do you mean madam? Amarachi Mrs............. Mrs Oluchi cuts in. She rushed to her, as they both hugged each other. Quite an age my dear friend, the woman greeted her friend. Tara hurriedly left them both to get her water. How is life generally, I have missed you, what about Adaobi? She asked. You mean that lazy girl? I guess she's sleeping, Mrs Oluchi replied. Omotara is the only one taking care of things here, in fact since she got here, it has been a great relief. Omotara brought a glass of cold water and handed it to Mrs Amarachi. Thank you she said. Is she the same girl you told me about whose parents got killed in a plane crash? N......no.....n....no, Mrs Oluchi couldn't give a straight answer, she was shivering and looking at Tara. Stream of tears flow down Omotara's cheeks. She couldn't believe what she heard. You mean my parents died of Plane crash and madam you didn't tell me the truth. Why! Why! Why! Mum! Dad! Why? Why did you leave me all alone? You should have taken me along with you. I have no reason to live anymore. The two women tried to console her but she wouldn't listen. I never knew she's not aware I wouldn't have mention it in her presence, oh God! What have I done? Mrs Amarachi lamented. Mrs Oluchi stylishly called their family doctor who actually came to the house and give Omotara a sleeping injection before everything went calm. Thank you doctor, she said. At least she will forget the pain for now, before she wakes up everything must have been better. I really feel for that girl. But Madam, why didn't you tell her in the first place? By now, she would have moved on. The doctor asked. This is what I was afraid of doctor, that's why I didn't tell her. She said. Take care of her and let me know if you need any help. He said as he take his leave.
Omotara woke up feeling weak hoping that what she heard is all a night mare but no, its all reality. And she said to herself. Where do I start from, where do I go from here? She has no relative except her parent. She looked up and remember the short story her father once told her about himself, her mother and their family.............................
